My father used to say that drinking determines consciousness. In Russian language words "drinking" and "being" sound similar (питье - бытье) so probably it he was refering to Karl Marx who said that i“It is not the consciousness of men that determines their being, but, on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness”.

This series consists of the portraits of various men intoxicated by alcohol that I have taken between 2010 and 2018.
